Position Summary

The Quality Control Inspector visits active and complete projects for quality control inspection. Prepares and conducts training programs on roof and at shop for roofing employees of industrial, commercial, and service applications.

Job Responsibilities

General Duties

  • Safe operation of motor vehicle to travel to sites and offices to execute duties and responsibilities.
  • Attend and participate in company sponsored and professional / career enhancing classes as needed
  • Attend and participate in department meetings with associated ARI offices to stay abreast of crew schedules, project status, and logistic issues that require involvement of Quality Control / Quality Assurance assistance
  • Provide two to three-week outlook to the Quality Control Manager of scheduled activity

Quality Control Responsibilities

  • Creates prioritized schedule to visit jobsites throughout Central / North Florida for quality workmanship
  • Conducts site inspections of ARI projects in coordination with ARI construction manager or foreman
  • Create and issue a photo-documented report for each visit with a brief description of the workmanship along with any deficiencies and how to correct
  • Coach and mentor technicians, foreman and CMs on the quality of workmanship needed
  • Check each project visited to insure there are “before, interior and in progress” photos being documented as well as a daily project log of worksite conditions.
  • Check that the roof application conforms to the permit/ project specifications
  • Coordinate with ARI construction manager and manufacturer technical representatives to conduct in progress and final inspections
  • Maintain log of deficiencies for identification of issue trends – issue item as well as responsible person

Training Responsibilities

  • Conducts general or specialized training sessions covering specified areas, such as those concerned with, employee orientation, safety practices and regulations, productivity enhancement, technical knowledge and skills required to do a specific job function and other such subject areas which require adaptation to changes in policies, procedures, regulations, and technologies
  • Provide training / teaching for Apprenticeship Program when needed
  • Tests trainees to measure their learning progress and to evaluate effectiveness of training presentation
  • Conduct in field training with technicians during site visits as the opportunity arises. Provide formalized report on what the outcome of the training yielded to the talent development coordinator and HR.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Education

· Bachelors degree preferred, not required

Experience

  • At least 8 years in commercial roofing installation or roofing technical quality assurance with thermoplastic, modified bitumen, BUR, and Liquid Applied systems.
  • Registered Roof Observer IIBEC certification a plus but not required

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

· Clean driver’s license

· Able to safely operate company vehicle

· Able to climb ladders and traverse roof elevations with no fear of heights

· Able to lift 75 LBS

· Able to work outdoors in the elements

· Technical proficiency (hands on) and experience with installation of commercial roofing – Mod.Bit., Singleply, BUR, Standing Seam, Tile, Fluid Applied Roofing Systems.

· Experience managing roof installations

· Able to use basic computer software and technologies

· Time management and communication with other’s schedules
